White Rose and Red Sampler £8.00
Rose £8.00
Rosé happens when the skins of red grapes touch wine for only a short time. Where some red wines ferment for weeks at a time on red grape skins, rosé wines are stained red for just a few hours. The winemaker has complete control over the colour of the wine, and removes the red grape skins (the source of the red pigment) when the wine reaches the perfect colour.
Nearly any red wine grape can be used to make rosé wine, however there are several common styles and grapes that are preferred for rosé, grenache, sangiovese, syrah, mourvèdre, carignan, cinsault, and pinot noir Generally Rose wines produce a similar taste profile, that of Strawberry, Citrus, Melon, Flowers and Rhubarb.
This flight offers of 3 very different Rose wines.
1. Quinson Provence. A soft red fruits rose with a delicate spice. Light and Crisp a stylish example of the Mourvèdre grape from the Provence region displaying a hint of apples and melon. (France)
2. Rose D’Anjou De Rosarie. A semi sweet Rose with hints of creamy raspberry and strawberry. From the Loire Valley region made with Cabernet Sauvignon grape. (France)
3. "L" Pago Ayles. Made with Cab Sav, Garnacha and Merlot grapes this is a rich and intense Rose from Aragon. Pago is the highest rating offered to Spanish Wines and few vineyards can boast this accreditation. You will find aromas of red fruit preserve and soft cream. A “fuller bodied” style Rose with raspberry and red cherry dominating. (Spain)
Sparkling £10.50
A selection of fizz to complement our regular prosecco offering. This flight comes in 3 x 100ml measures.
1. I Castelli Prosecco DOC Rose. A light and fruity prosecco with hints of strawberry and Cherry.
2. Cava Portaceli. Cava is a traditional Spanish fizz made from the Macabeo grape. Unlike Prosecco, Cava is made in the champagne style meaning that the bubbles are naturally occurring. You will find these sparkling wines much richer in colour and warmer in flavour. This Cava is rich and fruity with toasted vanilla and honeysuckle.
3. Spago Rosso Marzemino. A sparkling Red….! Made from the Raboso grape, indigenous to Veneto region in Italy. This wine tastes like lightly mulled cherries with a soft delicate sparkle.
- Kung Fu Girl Riesling. Single grape variety (Riesling). White peach and apricot aromas with sweet honeysuckle notes for a refreshing finish. The Riesling grapes are aged in a barrel for 2 months, giving balance between sharp citrus and warming notes of lychee and pear. (Washington State, USA)
- Bodega Pago “L de Ayles” Rose. Using Garnacha and Cabernet Sauvignon grape this fruity wine has more structure than usual Rose. It’s an intense, very fragrant and full-bodied example of a Rose. (Spain)
- Bodega Petruele Malbec. This single blend grape (Malbec) has a strong flavour of raspberries and black plumb with a delicate pepper flavour. Contact with oak gives the wine spicy aromas, chocolate and vanilla notes. A complex, unctuous, very fruity Malbec. (Argentina)
